2 Constitution Avenue

In 2012, ISPT commenced a two-stage upgrade of 2 Constitution Avenue, and appointed A.G. Coombs as Head Contractor to deliver the initial stage, which comprised a fully comprehensive upgrade of the building’s outdated technical services.

Originally constructed in 1986, the building features two levels of basement and six levels of office accommodation. A.G. Coombs Projects delivered design and construction services for the major services upgrade incorporating:

  • HVAC & mechanical, including replacement of all major plant and equipment
  • Fire services
  • Electrical services
  • Hydraulics services
  • Building Management and Controls System (BMCS)

One half of the building was occupied during the works by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. A.G. Coombs ensured that the tenant’s high-level security requirements were not breached during this time. This was achieved through closely managed access and communications between A.G. Coombs, ISPT and the tenant.

Delivering a major services upgrade in a building that is partially occupied by a highly secure government tenant needs a team that can be trusted, is reliable and who delivers ‘Surety of Outcome’. A.G. Coombs was appointed largely owing to their track record with ISPT, their extensive experience in similar projects, and their proven capabilities and focus on the delivery of Whole of Life outcomes. They successfully delivered the project as promised, with no disruption to the building or its occupants.
