The 230-bed hospital, which is co-located next to Monash Medical Centre, is one of only two tertiary paediatric facilities for Victorian children and their families.

Officially opened today by Victorian Premier the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP and Victorian Minister for Health the Hon. Jill Hennessy MP, the hospital will start accepting patients from the 19th April as part of a phased move timeline, with paediatric intensive care facilities opening in August, and Mental health services opening in late 2017 / early 2018.
