A.G. Coombs‘ Senior Engineer (Fire), Geoff Flower (pictured), will present on Fire Risk in Historic Buildings at the forthcoming FPA Australia Conference, Fire Australia & HazMat 2016, being held in Melbourne on 4-5 May 2016.
Geoff’s presentation will focus on a case study involving recent fire protection system investigation works undertaken at the iconic Her Majesty’s Theatre in Melbourne. Originally constructed in 1886 the theatre’s fire systems current design and installation standards are not directly applicable, and little documentation was available to explicitly identify the fire systems design and installation criteria. A.G. Coombs completed a detailed investigation into the fire safety services, which resulted in the re-establishment of baseline data incorporating retrospective as-built drawings and commissioning records, as well as confirmation of the capacity of the existing systems to perform to their required design criteria and an assessment of their suitability for future expansion.
Geoff will be presenting in conjunction with David Swinson, Director of Building Design Compliance Pty Ltd. Their presentation will take place on Day 2 – Thursday 5 May 2016 – at 10am in Room 204.
Fire Australia & HazMat is the largest conference and tradeshow dedicated to providing the latest information, research and knowledge for all stakeholders involved in the fire protection and hazardous materials sectors. For more information on the conference, visit the FPA Australia website.
