This year’s national three-day conference and expo for Australia’s peak body for prefabrication and offsite construction will explore the theme of Delivering Next Generation Buildings.

Held from October 10-12, the 2016 event will showcase the best in prefabricated and offsite technology and design, exploring the future of the built environment. This conference is hosted annually by the industry, for the industry.

The conference is hosted by the University of Sydney Architecture Design and Planning and will again feature some of the industry’s most highly regarded thought leaders, showcase ground breaking projects, explore innovative technology and host tours to some of Sydney’s most exciting locations for the offsite construction industry.

A.G. Coombs’ Warwick Stannus is presenting a case study on the award winning prefabricated services risers at Barangaroo.

The single biggest safety risk identified in the construction of many high-rise buildings is the installation of services risers. At Barangaroo, A.G. Coombs together with Lendlease introduced a new way to install services risers in high rise towers. By prefabricating, well in excess of 4,000 hours of complicated installation per tower were transferred into a controlled factory environment and the need to work at height is almost eliminated. This innovative approach to HVAC and building services installation very significantly reduces construction risk, and improves quality and future maintainability.

 
The A.G. Coombs Barangaroo prefabricated services risers have been recognised by the Property Council of Australia’s KONE Award for Innovation and the Australian Institute of Refrigeration Air conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) Standards Australia Award for Excellence in Innovation.
